Thruxton Historic Race Day
Updated: Oct 5, 2020
I suppose it was too much to ask for the Great British Summer to continue for a few weeks more, now that things are starting to get underway again! Still, despite studying the forecast for the run up to the weekend and seeing the weather window of opportunity slowly decrease in to perpetual gloom, nothing could dampen my excitement in attending the first track day of the year, at the historic Thruxton circuit located in Hampshire, home of the British Automobile Racing Club. What with the circuit having the accolade of being the fastest circuit in the U.K., it was sure to be a good day. You only need look at the confirmed grid to know it was going to be a good one. Track shooting however isn't really my forte, but I tried to turn my experiences to date in to something that would translate, and unfortunately but not unsurprisingly, paddock access this year was off the cards (you know how much I love to get people shots and provide some context to the day, rather than just grabbing cars) - however, I did get to meet a few lovely people; Belinda Wheelwright and her stunning GT40 (which I first had the opportunity to drool over at Bicester Heritage back in January), and Robert Clayson, the creator of the Facebook page, Personal Photos of Thruxton Motor Circuit among others.
